LOS ANGELES-- Free agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie inked with the Los Angeles Lakers after clearing quitclaims Saturday, the platoon blazoned.
Dinwiddie, a 30- time-old Los Angeles native, was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Raptors for Dennis Schroder and Thaddeus Young on Thursday and latterly waived by Toronto. Dinwiddie cleared quitclaims at 5p.m. ET Saturday.
Spencer is returning to his roots and the megacity where his trip began," Lakers vice chairman of basketball operations and general director Rob Pelinka said in a statement Saturday." We brought him back to his birthplace Los Angeles. We're thrilled for him to wear the iconic Lakers livery in front of his family and musketeers. His play-timber and aggressiveness from the guard position provide us precious depth as we continue our strong drive toward the reverse- half of the season. Spencer adds a wealth of experience to our canon and brings proven success in the postseason."
A 10-time stager, Dinwiddie attended the Lakers' 139- 122 palms over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday along with his agent, Jason Glushon of Glushon Sports Management, and sat with Pelinka in a lower-position luxury suite directly across from the platoon's bench. After the game, he visited with Lakers players and trainers in the locker room.
Raptors deal Schroder to Nets, waive Dinwiddie
I am an addict," Russell told ESPN when asked about what kind of person Dinwiddie is." But you all will get to know him soon." Dinwiddie equaled 12.6 points on 39.1 firing( 32 from 3) and 6.0 assists in 48 games for the Nets this season.
LeBron James was asked what Dinwiddie could give for the Lakers. Playmaking, another ball tutor, another shot-maker," James said." Another Joe, another stage. Anytime you can add a stager with that capability, it helps. So we'll see what happens."
